First rainy day this season

Who casts the first stone?

Don’t kill people

Wil Morat has an interesting post on the value of human life. Do you think Americans are the only human beings that matter? Everyone bleeds, and nobody wants to suffer.

I just voted

for Jack Herer.

Say hello

Breakdown, it’s alright

Are you scared, John Bush?

Got a bad taste in the back of your tongue? Come on, boy, you’re not going to be able to lie your way out of this forever.

Hat-tip to Shakespeare’s Sister.

Bringing in the sheaves

It’s hard to write about politics right now, passions are so high and with good reason. The Republicans ought not to hold office again.

Still, there is tremendous uncertainty who will be counted, if anyone. Perhaps there will be a few surprises, or perhaps the flood will be so overwhelming that nobody could believe a faked result.

The fact is that democracy has already fallen, we are only trying to do what we can to restore it or some replacement that works better at letting the people decide for themselves. Not a majority rule but not a minority rule either, no rule but social custom which lets each of us individually make our own choices with help from the community, and when those choices are anti-social the community may withdraw support.

We want (and by we, I mean myself and those who are with me) a system of government that we choose, not one that we are forced to respect at the point of a gun or the fear of a cell. And now this lovely creation has reinvented secret prisons and secret evidence, and they have already subjected your fellow Americans to their “tender mercies.”

The United States of America is a social fiction. It does not exist in a sense outside of your mental belief in its existence, and those actions which you take in furtherance of its continuation.

We want to enforce a constitution and laws against those who have perverted them, but they will not submit to this authority. Here you must listen if you want to understand: They do not respect your constitution and laws. This is not a polite debate about who will be found wrong, this is not a thief who readily admits his theft. (Though I came as a thief in the night.)

I am not saying these things to instruct you on what to do. That is the point, you have to decide. And if you decide not to decide, then that’s your decision. You do not have to restrict your choices to a menu. You do not have to vote if you do not want to. You do not have to do anything you do not want to do.

Make good decisions, for the best reasons. Help yourself by helping your fellow human being. For as you give so shall you receive. This is Karma now.
