Melissa McEwan wrote a post recently in which she tried to make a humorous statement, referring to cannabis:
The guy who prefers to kill his brain cells with a poison of the herbal variety should not feel left out, because there’s something for him, too.
We need clarity on this. There’s no evidence cannabis causes toxicity at any dose, much less that it kills brain cells. To the contrary, there is excellent evidence that it is neuroprotective and may even promote neurogenesis, the growth of new brain cells.
I’m not going to write a full essay at this time, because I doubt Melissa would even disagree with me. If necessary, I’ll write more, but I hope perhaps it was just a thoughtless joke.
Update: Or perhaps I am just an idiot that doesn’t always catch irony.
