If Rush Limbaugh wants to disrespect the troops, it’s his first amendment right.

Melissa McEwan:

Does it seem at all backwards to you that Senate Democrats have written a letter to Clear Channel Communications asking for its CEO to “publicly repudiate [Limbaugh’s] comments,” but didn’t make any fuss when two assholes on XM Radio talked about fucking Secretary of State Condi Rice and First Lady Laura Bush to death? Does it seem at all backwards to you that Congressional Republicans didn’t give a shit about that at all, despite it being said about the two most prominent women in their party, but went completely apeshit because an advertisement said something less than flattering about a general?

Who cares if it’s really him? George Bush doesn’t.

Larry Johnson writes @ Daily Kos:

Sorry. If you’re looking for some breathless analysis about another lame videotape, which allegedly contains the latest ramblings of the man behind the 9-11 attacks, this ain’t it. It is meaningless bullshit. Why? Because the United States, and the Bush Administration in particular, is not serious about finding and eliminating Bin Laden.

Frankly it would not surprise me to learn that the person appearing as Bin Laden is someone else. What’s with the beard dye? Is Bin Laden buying Grecian formula for facial hair? This video just does not make sense in either a strategic or tactical realm. It is simply a fuck you to the West.

Update: Steve Benen @ Crooks & Liars has some Republican perspectives:

Fred Thompson’s reaction to today’s Osama bin Laden tape:

“Bin Laden is more symbolism than anything else,” he said.

Mitt Romney on bin Laden:

[Romney] said the country would be safer by only “a small percentage” and would see “a very insignificant increase in safety” if al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was caught because another terrorist would rise to power. “It’s not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person,” Romney said.

Bush on bin Laden:

“I truly am not that concerned about him.”

At what point did the GOP decide that bin Laden no longer matters? And how would the right respond if Dems made similar comments?

My position is very simple. If he’s responsible for the deaths of Americans on 9/11/2001, indict his ass.

Who killed Mychal Judge?

Update 2: Brando, a commenter on the C&L thread writes:

So, someone comes into your house and murders some of your family members. The guy who ordered the “hit” is on the lam. The police inform you that catching the “mastermind” is not their priority because the crime has already been committed and there are other dastardly people out there to concentrate on. Huh?

Sorry… huh?
