Since I’ve been out of town, I’m catching up; Oilfieldguy’s analysis of the Bush administration from Saturday is well worth reading.

The Two Parties

There are two political parties in America, the Mommy Party and the Daddy Party. They use different names and sometimes the Mommies get confused and join the Daddies, sometimes the Daddies get upset and join the Mommies, but always they are our Parents.

And we are not children.

Now it happens that the Daddy party is abusive. He makes fun of Mommy and he makes her look stupid when she’s trying to help, but more than this he beats up his family when he gets drunk. And Mommy is scared to fight him because she doesn’t want to get beat too. This is not your family or mine, unless it is in your particular case, but it is a description of the Democratic and Republican Parties.

Now even though we’re grown and we want to be on our own we cannot just leave our family and not care what is happening to us. We cannot be independent of one another because we are all related to one another. My brother and my sister are being killed. They are being starved. They are being put into slavery. They are being put to torture. You are destroying my faith in your humanity.

We love our parents and we love our brothers and sisters. And when you say sons and daughters I say you should look at your own brothers and sisters, and what you are doing to yourselves. You are not doing a very good job.

And this is not personal to one family, this is common to all of our families all over the world who are being put under this power structure. And it is not good for any of us. We are all children of God.
